The focus of our Marlee on the Move initiative is to spread our mission across the United States and globally. Through this initiative, we donate books to local children's hospitals, host free workshops for children and families from historically marginalized groups, and provide books and professional development for teachers in economically developing countries. We believe that our world is better when all children have access to early mathematics and literacy. The Marlee the Mathematician series is the vehicle we use to empower young mathematicians everywhere. Contact us today to learn about ordering a set of books to donate or to nominate a potential partner organization.

We are honored to announce our newest partnership between Marlee Loves Math, the African Institute of Mathematical Sciences School Enrichment Center (AIMSSEC), and Levana Primary School. We will soon travel to Cape Town to donate books and offer free professional development sessions for teachers in township schools. Many schools in the Cape Flats are plagued by gang activity, drugs, robbery, and other crimes related to extreme poverty and a lack of opportunities. These conditions, which are a result of apartheid and segregation, cause numerous issues for current learners. Townships schools are underfunded and Levana current has a student teacher ratio of 33:1. Many students at Levana only eat while at school. Additionally, the school is focusing on mental health and mindfulness as a way to support students born into addiction and exposed to the constant trauma of daily gun violence.
The library at Levana Primary school was named in honor of Rene Roman. Rene, a sixth grade student at the time, was brutally raped and murdered. Rene loved reading and was often found in the library. Rene had aspirations of being a teacher. Levana worked with several organizations to construct and stock the space. This new partnership will continue their efforts by further building their catalog by adding books that focus on STEM, SEL, and gardening (the school has a garden).
There are three ways to donate:
Please consider donating a copy of Operation Feed the Ducks with Marlee the Mathematician to the students at Levana. You will see "Storytime & A Snack" on our Shop page. Click the link below to donate a book.
Are you an author? Would you like to donate your book the Rene Roman Library? We would love to have books that center STEM, SEL, and gardening. We also won't turn any books away. If you would like to donate your book (or multiple copies), please click the link below to message me. All donors will receive a picture of a child holding their book and a public thank you for your donation.
Want to donate an Amazon gift card so we can purchase additional books and supplies for the Levana learners? We welcome gift cards in any amount. Please send it to author@marleelovesmath.com.
