What is the facilitator's guide?
I created this book to create joyful experiences that weaved powerful mathematical thinking into an engaging story and context for young readers. The facilitation guide pulls back the curtains on some of the intentionality behind the story and illustrations. It will help caregivers, families, and educators support their young mathematicians by providing tips, sample questions, and strategies aimed at building engagement and critical thinking skills. I hope the guide helps us all remember to shift from a focus on speed, and only getting the “right answer” to honoring the brilliant dialogue embedded in children’s dialogue and thinking.
